Getting Started

It all starts with a phone call or an e-mail, call us and we will discuss your ideas and if we think there will be a fit we will schedule a free consultation on your property. Need some ideas? Take a look at our services page and portfolio of our past projects and see what our previous clients enjoy every day in their yard. You can also flip through magazines, browse online, or even go for a drive and check out some of the beautifully landscaped properties there are in your community.

Collect some pictures of completed landscapes or even a specific element or feature in a landscape that catches your eye. Have them ready to show your landscape designer at your first meeting.

Consultation

The first step of your project is the first meeting between the landscaping company and the homeowner. This first meeting is an opportunity for the customer to explain what they are looking for, throwing some ideas together, and to determine if a design is necessary. This is also a great time to figure out what your vision is for your property, establish budget, and determine priorities. A questionnaire can be provided to the customer to help aid the designer in the design of your space. Think about how you and your family will use this space. Your lifestyle can also play a role on how to define the landscape. If it is determined that a design isn't required for your project, a quote can be provided to you within a few days.

Emerald Landscaping - Our Process: Design

Design

Once it is determined that a design is needed, we will listen to your needs and wants, your likes and dislikes. Measurements will be taken and existing structures and plant material will be noted that will remain in the landscape. Our comprehensive plan for your property will outline all the construction that we propose including walkways, driveway, retaining walls, plant placement, and any new structures. The design will also list all the trees, shrubs, and perennials we have in mind for the new landscape including pot size at planting time and mature size. There is a fee for this service. This fee is determined by the complexity, property size, and scope of both the site and the design itself.

Design fees can also be reimbursed to the customer either as credit towards the final bill, or a straight rebate if Emerald Landscaping is awarded to install your project.

Estimate

After the plans have been discussed and revisions have been made, a detailed quote can be provided outlining the work to be completed. Upon acceptance of the quote, a contract for your project will be completed and presented to the customer.

Emerald Landscaping - Our Process: Installation and Project Management

Installation and Project Management

Once the construction phase of the process is underway, Greg will make a point of overseeing your project to make sure things are done right the first time. If at any time you are unsure about the process, Greg and his team have committed to making themselves as accessible as possible to answer any of your questions or discuss your concerns at any point of construction. Once we start your project, the Emerald team stays committed to your project, starting and finishing one project at a time.

Emerald Landscaping - Our Process: Walk Through

Walk Through

After construction is complete we will complete a walkthrough of your brand-new space to make sure everything is up to standard and to ensure you love your new space. It is an opportunity for Emerald to lend some advice on plant care, irrigation and winterization tips, and to show off some of the detail that went into creating your new landscape.

Follow-up

We are always around to fix any issues or do any service work for your space. Your contract is also your warranty guide. We have one of the best warranty programs in the industry that includes one year on plant material and three years on all hardscaping installations.
